BIGGER - FASTER - BETTER BATTERY,

My fist HolyStone drone was the W181. I still have a lot of fun with the W181. However, when I was given a chance to receive the HS110D FPV RC drone with camera free I jumped at the chance. The stipulation is I must give you an honest review and here it is. The HS110D is a little larger and a little faster. It hovers (stays in one spot) really well. It also handles the wind better because it has higher speed settings. The controller has an LCD panel in it so when you change settings, like to Headless, you can see the setting you are currently on. one of the biggest changes over the W181 is the battery! Not only does it last longer it is plug and play. To recharge the battery you don't even have to take it out of the drone. Just plug in the USB cord directly into the Drone. I has been raining almost every day here so I had to shoot some video indoors.

Great drone with intuitive feature and spare parts.

The Holystons HS110D quadcopter/drone is great fun and easy to fly. We couldn’t wait to take it for a test flight and loved how easy it is to fly and land. Holystone has upgrades the options from their mini drone that we have to include a hover (elevation hold) mode as well as a one button landing mode. The headless mode makes flying forward super easy as the drone rotation of the drone doesn’t matter, remote stick up = forward. The remote includes indicator lights for battery level, headless mode, etc so you know the stays at all times. The package includes spare parts as well as improvements on labeling the blades with rotational directions. The package also includes a 4GB micro SD and USB adapter to view and manage your pics and videos. One additional improvement that I appreciate is the prop shafts are prtotected with a shield to prevent fibers from wrapping around them slowing the props. The app for the iPhone (I assume for andriod as well) provides easy connection to the drone over WiFi with a live feed and the ability to capture still pictures as well. The WiFi connection is between the drone and phone and doesn’t need any other devices, it is easy to establish and has great range and provides a warning indicator if you go too far. As far as duarability we tested that too as I am not a good pilot as my 16 year old son. I crashed it into a tree about 20 feet off the ground, it tumbled through the tree and was ready for take-off again. Additionally we brought it into the house to use with our Holystone mini drone and found that it was very easy to maneuver (for my son) and very responsive. He was able to flight it through the hall and up and down the stairs with ease.

One other thing to note is that when we had question with our other drone the customer support is excellent, responsive and the use of video to provide guidance and feedback is well done and expedites the process.

I would highly recommend this product as we are planning on having a ton of fun with it, I also plan on using it to check my roof and gutters without having to get out the ladder.

I would recommend getting additional batteries as you will want to keep flying once you start.

Excellent Entry Drone with Superb HD Video Camera

This is my fourth drone from Holy Stone. I have found that the customer service I receive from HS goes over and above every time I deal with them, and that is huge to me as I am relatively new to this hobby and, with me, crashes are a distinct possibility.

The equipment: You get the HS110D drone with modular battery (1000 aAh LiPo) and HD video camera, USB charging cable, remote (2.4 GHz, 4 x A batteries not included) with a phone holder attachment, a 4 Gb micro SD card and USB reader, 2 spare prop guards, 2 spare light covers, 4 spare propellers, 2 spare landing guards, tiny screwdriver and spare screws and a pocket notebook with pen.

The remote: I prefer rubberized remotes so I was a bit disappointed that this was not rubberized. That said, the rest on the remote was spot on. It is larger, for bigger hands, and ergonomically pleasing. The large power button is centered and stays lit green as long as it is on. The trim buttons are easily within reach and smartly set up. There are dedicated buttons for initiating flips, taking pictures & video, starting & landing and speed increase and decrease.

It has a headless mode (which I don’t use) but the nicest feature is a back lit, colored status panel showing, among other things, your speed level (1-4), if headless mode is engaged and if the camera is activated—a good thing for a guy that occasionally forgets to turn his off! Finally, it has an attachment to hold your cell phone for first person viewing (FPV). I had never tried this before, so it was totally new to me (more about this later in the review).

Syncing: The syncing procedure is simpler than any of my other drones—left stick up then down and hit the “Re-Sync” button. A beep notifies that the sync has been successful. I liked the integration of a re-sync button for the sheer simplicity. Far better than having to manipulate joysticks this way and that.

The drone: It is medium-sized—about 15” diagonal from prop guard to prop guard. Since it is only 5.1 ounces, it does not need to be registered with the FAA. It comes with a modular battery and affixed video camera on the underside. Two things that are nice additions at the outset…1) the larger drone power button. I have medium-to-large hands but I really have gotten sick and tired of trying to turn the quad-copter on using these wretchedly minuscule dip switches. I truly like that this is a good-sized, true button. 2) The modular battery is a welcome change from the smaller, wire plug-in batteries from a couple of my other drones. This is a much more positive connection! That said, I now place electrical tape across mine because I crashed it into a neighbor’s house once and the battery popped out. It needed a bit of a better retention mechanism but the tape has worked fine.

Finally, a word on the lights. I find them to be far more useful than other drones and not just because they are larger (and thus easier to see from distance). When they are flashing blue, that is the signal she is ready to fly. They are solid blue (in front) and white (in back) while flying and I found that very helpful for depth perception, especially when flying straight out and in. When the drone is downed or needs to be re-synced, it flashes red—something I was very thankful for when it went down in a grove of trees as it made locating it in the dusk so much easier.

Battery life: I kept a record of how long I got from a fully charged battery. It ranged from 9: 19 – 12: 06 with the average being just over 10 minutes. Holy Stone says that the battery takes 2 hours (120 min) to charge. There is a light on the drone that remains on so you can tell how long it takes to charge. I have never found it taking longer than 96 minutes to charge.

Flight: This is a very easy flyer. The controls are well laid out, the power is adequate to cut through lesser winds, especially if you get the speed up to level 3 or 4. This quad is better than the F181c at dealing with winds. Max range is 400 feet.

Camera: This is where the HS110D truly shines. In many ways it is like the F181c in terms of size and handling—the 181c offers slightly tighter turning but the 110D more speed. But where it truly excels is the camera. The HD video camera (1280 x 720p; 120 degree wide angle) is takes fantastic pics and videos, the quality was sharp. I found the free Holy Stone app very simple to install, set up and use. The pics and vids are stored both on the micro SD card (4 Gb and comes with a USB reader) and your phone (via the app). You can take pics & videos both from the remote and your cell. I also wish I would have seen that there is an emergency power off of the drone on the app before I crashed it.

Like I said previously, I have never used FPV to pilot a drone but it was a whole new world. It not only added a far greater ability to set up your pictures and videos but just seeing from that height was astounding. Loved that.

Final thoughts: Great drone. Would have liked a rubberized remote and a better retention in the battery compartment but these are minor issues. There are a lot of wonderful features on this quad but the thing that steals the show is the HD video cam and the ability to fly FPV. It was a very enjoyable and responsive flyer. That, coupled with the receptive Holy Stone customer service, I highly recommend this drone for the novice and intermediate alike. Happy flying!

Simply amazing. This drone takes some really good footage. Everything is packed inside so nice and neat. Even comes with a handy little note pad. Very easy to fly and very stable. The controls are firm like they should be. The battery life is decent. An extra battery or two is a must. I really enjoy this drone. Buy one you won’t be disappointed.

I paid for sane day delivery and was not disappointed it came a few hours later. I was disappointed in overall flight time. And when i got the product i noticed the QC sticker missing.everything was accounted for however The thumb drive was missing the 4 gb sd card which is also a big disappointment all in all not a terrible buy but it could be better.

Great "STARTER" drone as it is a bit too light weight even for the slightest breeze!!!

Overall a very nice drone!!! Customer service is even better!!! I had a defective (not charging enough battery and they sent me a new one immediately...great service.

Drone is fairly easy to fly, good controls, etc. but is too light to fly with even the a bit of breeze. The wind will make it very hard to control until you really learn how to fly it correctly and even then it is tough to control it. I have not been able to use it as often as I would like due to this issue, where I live there is a slight breeze most of the time...

Camera is good, would prefer to have a moving/gyro mount so the view can be straight down but overall this is a fantastic starter drone...!!!
