Winter is coming!

Let me introduce you to the smallest member of my drone fleet - HS450! There are couple of reasons why I got a drone of this category:
- in the Northern USA flying outdoors becomes more and more problematic --> need to practice flying indoors
- I have 4 kids in the family, where the youngest is 5 y/o --> need to be able to give SOMETHING to all of my kids (obviously I don't want anybody to touch MavicAir2 - it is MY toy :-) )

And you know - we are definitely having fun: the kid immediately assigned himself as a sole owner of HS450 (it has #5 written on the top!), and after a couple of days he more or less can control the drone!

Of course, you cannot let such small kids to play with drones by themselves - but if at least somebody in the family has an idea about piloting, it is absolutely fine for the price paid:
- the structure is surprisingly sturdy (yes, it crashed LOTS OF TIMES already)
- the weight is very low (yes, we've hit various fans and its bulbs :-) )
- altitude hold is acceptable (not perfect, but still manageable)
- obstacle avoidance is rudimentary, but still better than nothing
- sticks are pretty comfortable for both adults and kids

One the questions/warning side:
- you need to understand how to do "trimming" - in that case the drone positioning will be much more controllable (and enjoyable). But to do it you need to be in the air. So I would recommend to start flying in the open area - so you can adjust settings. And only after that you can give control to kids.
- obstacle avoidance has pretty short visibility distance and helps only with low speed. So don't expect the drone to suddenly stop in the air before it rams into the wall (sorry, it's not Mavic or Skydio :-) )

This is really fun drone playing with kids! So easy to control and I felt safer than usual drone. Sensor avoiding to hit to the wall is great! The point including 3 batteries is also good!

Fun, durable and easy to use little drone for young AND old!

I’m pretty new to drones, so whenever I don’t want to take out my full-sized copters, I need something small, durable and easy to fly - both indoors and out. Yes, I’m an adult...yes this is technically a drone for the younger set, but young and old alike will love buzzing this little guy around; Say hello to the Holy Stone HS450!

It’s easy to learn, even easier to fly, and although it may be tiny it comes with tons of features like one button takeoff/landing, obstacle avoidance (no more smacking into walls...or your spouse), flight trim, auto hover, a self-calibrating gyroscope, headless mode and more. Don’t let all those features fool you though, your kids will have no problem flying it around.

With 3 swappable batteries you can fly for at least 15 minutes, and a bigger bonus is that the batteries charge with your everyday USB cord - no proprietary cable needed - so you can charge it up when you’re ‘out and about’.

The transmitter isn’t too big or too small, it’s a slightly scaled down version of an XBox-type of controller, and it feels solid in your hands.

One thing I really enjoy is the design, with full protection cages around the props. While keeping the traditional drone shape (it’s not shaped like a flying saucer), the guards make a HUGE difference to the durability and fun time, you get spare props but you may never even need them.

Would I recommend this product? You betcha, the HS450 is a pretty sweet little drone and a fantastic value for the money...I expected to pay a lot more for something this fun and durable! You may want to pick up a second one, though, it’ll be hard to let someone else have the controls once you’ve taken flight!

This is an awesome little drone for young children or to just play around with on a rainy day when you can't fly outside. It is well built with obstacle avoidance for a great price. It comes with a additional set of propellers and 2 extra batteries.

Small, compact and great for kids

Ordered this for my 8 year old son and honestly was a bit smaller than expected at first. You can see the pictures on the size comparison, so definitely not meant to be flown outside on a windy day. However, it turned out to be perfect for my son as we're not really pros at flying these types of things. It took him a few tries to get the hang of it and loved the novelty of it. Also unexpected bonus was that you can play with it without the remote, like one of popular flying toys you see all over the place now that you toss around. Overall, worth the money.
